The Groves, one of Aldar Properties' flagship developments on Saadiyat Island Cultural District, is a dynamic mixed-use development comprised of Retail, Residential and Hospitality components set in a unique and contemporary community. U+A was commissioned to propose a Masterplan and Architectural Concept for the development.
The Process
As one of the focal points of the Saadiyat Island Cultural District in Abu Dhabi, Aldar Properties is developing The Grove, a dynamic mixed-use development to include retail, residential, and hospitality components in a unique and diverse contemporary community.
Located within one of the most prime sites in Abu Dhabi, The Grove will link the Louvre, Guggenheim and Zayed National Museums, therefore intending to set a new precedent for development in the region. By introducing courtyards and nodes, the architecture aims to create a variety of public spaces. In addition, the “carving” of the podium further enhances the link between the buildings and the surrounding cultural monuments.
