Emaar DWC Community Retail Centre forms part of the wider Emaar DWC Development within Dubai World Central, adjacent to Al Maktoum International Airport. The retail centre was conceived as a community-focused commercial destination serving the surrounding residential and mixed-use development, which encompasses luxury villas, low-rise residential accommodation, hospitality, healthcare, education, commercial and retail uses. The architectural approach establishes a contemporary geometric character while maintaining a strong relationship between the building and its surrounding landscape.
The centre brings together a range of commercial and community functions, including retail, food and beverage, anchor spaces, an Emaar sales centre, promotion and display areas, prayer rooms and supporting back-of-house facilities. The planning strategy is organised to provide clear circulation between the different uses while creating a considered relationship between interior and exterior spaces. This connectivity was intended to establish a family-oriented environment with a more intimate scale within the larger DWC development.
U+A's multidisciplinary scope extended across master planning, architecture, interiors and landscape, integrating the retail centre into the broader development framework. The design process considered the building’s architectural expression alongside its structural, MEP, interior and landscape requirements, creating a coordinated commercial environment that responds to both the operational demands of a retail centre and its role as a community destination.
